jQuery Kwicks and CSS Image Sprites Tutorial
Posted in Tutorials, jQuery by john | Tags: CSS, CSS Sprites, jQuery, jQuery plugin, Tutorials
This is a catchy jQuery powered effect I have used in a couple of projects lately, so I thought of sharing it with you.
It uses the Kwicks for jQuery plugin from Jeremy Martin to which I’ve added a twist using CSS image sprites. This way the whole thing uses only one image. Extra effects can [...]

Hello folks! First of all, sorry for the delayed writing on our blog, but we had a few re-inventing to do over here at WebGurus, and that ate up all our time.
I’m using jQuery for 2 years now and I search for addons and plugins for it every day. Most of my searches are targeted [...]
Create a live-update list effect with jQuery
Posted in Tutorials, jQuery by Gergely Marton | Tags: jQuery, Tutorials
I wrote this little tutorial because yesterday I’ve searched the web for 2 hours to find something similar, but nothing came up.
We were required to create a “live update” effect for a list in which new list items were added almost every 5 seconds.
The web page, where all this needed to function, is an auction [...]

Yetii stands for Yet (E)Another JavaScript Tab Interface Implementation. It is only 3.9 kb in compressed mode and the beauty of it is that it renders great even on browsers without JavaScript support. It’s fully customizable and framework independent. I mostly use it for widget development because keeping widgets as light as possible but giving [...]

I found this jQuery plugin while searching for a non-flash background image slideshow for a project. Well it did the trick!

Features include image resizing to [...]
jQuery Image Preview – New Plugin “imgPreview”
Posted in Usability, jQuery by Gergely Marton | Tags: interface, JavaScript, jQuery
The ‘imgPreview’ plugin allows your users to preview an image before clicking on it and, out of necessity, will preload the image so when a user does click through to it there is no waiting time!
The image preview shows up in a tooltip-like box appearing alongside the user’s cursor when hovering over a link. The plugin is entirely unobtrusive; it does not require any hooks to target specific links (no non-semantic classes); it will automatically detect the anchors that are linking to images and will only apply the preview effect to them.
